The Mill
S.E.A. srl owns a mill that is integrated in the supply chain. It produces fine carded yarns such as pure wool, pure cashmere, silk/cashmere and cashmere blends, including in contemporary interpretations.
It is located in the textile area near Prato and covers 4,500 m2 for an annual production of 450,000 kg of fine yarn.
The high quality and the value for money are in part due to the fact that the mill sources its supplies directly on the raw materials markets, for example importing raw cashmere fibre directly from Chinese suppliers.
Eco-sustainability
Ecology for people
S.E.A. srl has great respect for people, their wellbeing and health, and makes every effort to use natural and renewable fibres when creating its products.
For the AW 2021 season, S.E.A. srl is offering a number of totally natural and pure 100% cashmere products: the yarn is produced using virgin undercoat alone, treated with only soap and water. Currently the yarn is produced and sold only in the natural colours of the undercoat.
S.E.A. srl is experimenting (in collaboration with a leading dyer) with a series of natural colours that, starting from the natural undercoat, create a totally natural garment as the dyes are all sourced from nature without the use of chemical processes. S.E.A. srl has also presented a summer range of organic cottons dyed with vegetable or mineral dyes.
Continuing with this range of products that are made from nature in its natural state, vegetable and mineral dyeing is also being developed for all animal fibres (including wools and cashmere). At least 12 colours will be available.
Certifications of SEA-produced yarnsS.E.A. srl has great respect and love for the environment. At its mill, it produces high quality yarns largely using raw materials from renewable and recycled sources. S.E.A. srl thus wanted its mill to have the certifications that prove to all the genuine nature of its yarn.
RWS Certification
The Responsible Wool Standard is promoted by Textile Exchange, one of the most important international non-profit organisations for responsible and sustainable development in the textile sector.
RWS requires a declaration of environmental policy that is audited by third parties, guaranteeing that wool is sourced from responsibly managed sheep with stringent criteria in animal welfare and limiting environmental impact, maintaining traceability throughout the entire production process. The entire production chain of farming companies working for textile production is covered.
GRS Certification
The Global Recycle Standard is promoted by Textile Exchange, one of the most important international non-profit organisations for responsible and sustainable development in the textile sector. The standard recognises the importance of recycling for the growth of a model of sustainable production and consumption, aiming to encourage the reduction of the consumption of resources (virgin raw materials, water and energy) and increase the quality of recycled products.
GOTS Certification
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) was developed by leading international standard setters in order to define internationally recognised criteria for organic textiles. From the harvesting of raw materials, to environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing and up to labelling, GOTS certified textiles offer a credible guarantee to consumers.
